This was my harvest today. Some broccoli already bolted – started to flower- but 2 heads are still nice and green. Bolted broccoli is still good to eat. I should get 2-3 more heads of broccoli before the season is over.

So, we had some leftover ingredients in the fridge perfect for my and Julia’s fav pizza – Hawaiian! She chopped up the ham and bacon, I grated some fresh provolone cheese, drained the pineapple (drank the juice!) and Kevin added the sauce and all the ingredients. It was delish! I’m not big on making my own crust – Trader Joe’s offers a good, pre-made crust and I really like Target – yes Target – pre-made pizza crust! Next zza to make is a margherita or veggie style pizza.

Welcome Ms. Broccoli! I have 5 plants and they are growing quite happily! I have had to take care of those pesky green imported caterpillars that like to chomped through the green leaves in just minutes but since I know leafy veggies like kale and broccoli are prone to these pests, I am staying on top of caterpillar removal! Broccoli is hard for me to digest but I eat the florets rather than the stems and I’m ok. I’ll keep you posted on their progress!

Nope, not Wheaties – Cheerios with blueberries! One of my favorite breakfasts. I’m not much for breakfast as I’m not usually hungry when I wake up. I think that’s a habit I taught myself while on TPN (no food by mouth) for almost 3 years. You have to re-train your brain to not crave food. I’m thrilled to report that I am off TPN and experimenting with food again – so damn happy! It’s only been 2 weeks but I’m hopeful!

Finally, we saw loads of sunshine on Saturday and were able to complete a big outdoor project! We started ripping up the garden in the fall and finally finished yesterday. Kevin and Jules were work horses. I helped too but not with all the heavy lifting- need to work back up to lifting super heavy things. Kevin estimated he lifted 2,800 pounds of white marble stone: into the cart, out of the cart, onto the ground – 70 bags, 40 pounds each 😳 Planted some delphinium, foxglove, rudbeckia, daisies- so excited! Left the rose gold, bee balm, hydrangeas and oodles of bulbs. Please feel free to send ideas for bulbs or perennials to add to my garden!!
Whatever your belief, I hope you have a beautiful day. I pray you get to see your loved ones through some type of social media. And I pray you and your loved ones stay healthy. Along those lines, I’ve been juicing- making an anti-inflammatory drink hoping to reduce the raging inflammation in my body. Here’s a pic of the ingredients- so bright and cheerful!

These are totally organic! I’m so excited- I cultivated the seeds from a butternut squash grown in my garden last summer and, with a little TLC, grew more seedlings for this summer’s garden. Please see the DIY & Gardening section of my blog for instructions on how I cultivated the seeds.
Saw the sunrise this morning in Valley Forge Park. The colors were just absolutely brilliant. Made me think it’s a miracle, the colors we see from nature. And a miracle that I didn’t run off the road while capturing the colors 😄 Then I realized that if nature can give us this brilliance, then, yes, anything is possible! Whether the challenge is personal, work-related, health-related, family-related – keep on pushing through and remember that hard and a lot of patience can help us see the beautiful colors life has to offer!

I didn’t have any symptoms until it was very late in the game. But I had FAP, a rare genetic form of colorectal cancer, so nothing was ordinary for my treatment. BUT YOU can make a difference in your own life or your loved ones. Watch this 5 minute video from the Today Show and make an appointment for a screening. And if your insurance doesn’t support screenings under 50 years old – write to them, demand coverage, be your own advocate! https://www.today.com/video/new-colon-cancer-screening-guidelines-what-you-need-to-know-80057925690
Spring has almost sprung and my bulbs are all quickly coming up! Are yours? Having observed the bulbs pushing up through the ground, I know the deer are not far behind! So I’m sharing my favorite deer repellent solution: shaved Irish Springs! Sprinkle it around your bulbs and the deer will avoid the area. The soap shavings dissolve into the ground but the stench – opps, I mean scent!- is left behind and the deer do not like it and move on.
