Homegrown veggies, our favorite!

Mindful eating has become a priority, because we realize how critical it is to take care of our bodies. While the supermarket is overflowing with “organic”, “biodynamic,” and other labels, we are most satisfied to see our food from seedling to fruit to plate – not to mention the great tans we get from working in the garden! We bring this DIY mentality beyond the garden too. Check out our tips and tricks for garden success and other DIY projects.

Here we have some homegrown organic squash from our very own backyard. Even with an ostomy five servings of fruit and veggies is still key to maintaining a balanced diet. Be careful as some skins of fruits and vegetables can be tougher to digest such as apples, potatoes, and cucumbers. We normally peel our veggies (like the squash pictured above) and then cook them. You’ll come to find that you may need to find other ways to prepare your fruits and vegetables so that they digest better – try soups and smoothies for example!

Wine Cork Heart Wreath

  • Start off by tracing a heart on some heavy-weight card stock. I used cardboard. Carefully cut out shape.
  • Using a hot glue gun, begin attaching wine corks to the heart form. As you can see, I used random height and width corks. This wreath has almost 80 corks!
  • To create the ombre effect, mix paints (white and red) to create lightest pink to deep red and paint away.
  • You can pierce the cardboard to add ribbon and hang the wreath on your door or anywhere.

How to Grow Organic Butternut Squash Seedlings

  • Cut off the bulbous part of the butternut squash.
  • Using a spoon and the bulbous part of the squash, scrape down the sides of the squash and gently free the seeds from the pulp.
  • Add soil to the top and spritz daily until seedlings appear
